The Hope Center Article on the Wiles Project dated December 2006

Work Done:

• Replaced entire roof (hole in roof from fallen flue).  Had five layers of old roofing.

• Reinforced main support beam.

• Replaced main waste stack and upgraded plumbing (replacing most of it).

• Removed old and install new furnace and water heater. 

• Replaced rear door for increased security. 

• Replaced rear French doors with window for energy efficiency.

• Rebuilt kitchen:

•     - Reinforced existing joists and replaced subfloor.

•     - Upgraded supporting walls. 

•     - Replaced plumbing/electrical.

•     - Configured new kitchen to include washer & dryer.

•     - Insulated and sheetrocked.

•     - Primed/Painted walls.

•     - Installed new cabinets and custom countertop.

•     - Installed new vinyl flooring.

•     - Provided stove, refrigerator, washer and dryer (donations).

• Rebuilt bathroom:

•     - Gutted old bathroom.

•     - Installed new subfloor.

•     - Insulated exterior wall.

•     - Replaced plumbing/electrical.

•     - Installed new vinyl flooring.

•     - Installed new tub, vanity and toilet.

•     - Installed grab bars.

• Replaced electrical panel and wiring.  Upgraded electrical service.

• Reinforced broken ceiling joists in master bedroom.

• Insulated outside walls and ceiling spaces (when accessible). 

• Added attic insulation for increased energy efficiency.

• Replaced bad plaster on walls and ceilings with sheetrock and installed new molding. 

• Repainted entire interior of house.

• Replaced broken glass in number of windows.

• Installed new siding on back of house.

• Installed new carpeting (downstairs, upstairs and stairs).
