2007 Annual Report (with 2006 Recap)
Letter from the Board
In 2007, FaithBUILDERS celebrated its seventh year "helping others live in safety, comfort and dignity". In delivering this mission, FaithBUILDERS volunteers worked thousands of hours to assist numerous clients in the greater Kansas City area (see Client Profiles for what we did). FaithBUILDERS serves the elderly, disabled, and urban core by helping with major projects, minor repairs and exterior maintenance.
For clients, 2006 and 2007 were banner years for size and breadth of projects completed. We undertook several major home rehabs (interior gutting and rebuilding), and several different variations of past projects, such as ramps. While these major projects made life-changing impacts on our clients, they were also consumed a majority of our current resources. We now have a better perspective on what we can handle with our present resources and will select projects to optimize our ability to effectively deliver them.
During the 2006 & 2007, Greg Take served as our Executive Director. Through his outstanding and tireless efforts, knowledge of and collaboration with FaithBUILDERS has grown phenomenally. Through participation in high profile projects like the JR house in KCK, FaithBUILDERS has developed an excellent relationship with the Wyandotte County Unified Government (UG). This relationship has taken FaithBUILDERS into previously unseen programs involving entire neighborhood redevelopment and the evolution of the Build to Last (BTL) Program. Our BTL Program focuses on not only delivering home repair services to the needy, but working with communities to rebuild neighborhood holistically. We continue to look for opportunities to implement our BTL program, yet our primary focus is on the sustainable growth and stability of FaithBUILDERS as a home repair ministry and the board is dedicated to ensure the success of that pursuit.
Unfortunately, our focus on delivering programs the last couple years has not been equally supported by fundraising efforts or contributions, leaving FaithBUILDERS in position of not being able to fund a full-time paid staff. As of early 2008, Greg has elected to move from his paid position of Executive Director and join the FaithBUILDER Board of Trustees. As such, at least for the near future, we will return to a volunteer-led program.
For the last several years, FaithBUILDERS has found that collaboration with other groups multiplies the impact we can make on our clients' lives. In several instances, FaithBUILDERS leveraged minor work commitments into significant improvements by others for our clients. These relationships have been developed in a number of areas - client identification, funding, direct services, related services, agency development, etc. See Community Partners for more information on organizations.
For the immediate future, the board will focus on capacity building and fundraising to support the needed services to our clients. The board continues to search for qualified board members to serve our growing organization and broaden the talents and resources available to support FaithBUILDERS' mission. If you are interested, or know of someone might be, please contact any board member or visit our website to download an information packet.
We are pleased with we what have achieved during the years with God's help but acknowledge that there are many more yet to be served. We've been blessed with devoted volunteers with God-given skills. Please pray for God's continued guidance of our group and to show us how to better follow the ways of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ.

Financial Highlights:
In 2006 and 2007, substantial increases in church contributions and project support funding attributed to FaithBUILDERS' continued and active focus on our mission. We were successful in obtaining funding for several large projects. Funding also include several sizable grants with non-project restrictions.
Project expenses increased due to accepting some larger, more complex projects. Administrative expenses include staff salaries and related expenses, insurance, board development and typical miscellaneous office supplies/printing.
